A tropical garden in the heart of a private domestic house in Bangkok. Ornamental banana trees and evergreen fruiting trees screen the edge of the garden from the lane outside. In the centre of the space is a large lotus pond, with a stepping stone path leading to the house entrance. Home to a healthy extended family of carp, a series of polished black concrete interlocking fountains form the centre piece of the pond. The pond reflects the adjacent wings of the house, giving the impression that the house is floating on water, and contributes to the cool shady calm of the garden by providing soft reflected light and evaporative cooling.
