- Completed 2018
This project is situated on the edge of the North York Moors. The single storey extension houses a dining room and relocates a reading room to the rear of the house. The extension is designed to orientate the entertaining spaces of the house towards the beautiful views of the garden and the Moors beyond whilst being sympathetic to the character and materials of the original cottage.
A courtyard was created between the existing house and extension, providing a space sheltered from the wind whilst maintaining views through the glazing of the extension. Waste materials from the construction process were recycled in the garden to create growing frames for sweet pea and runner beans.
